My Role

Everything

Every Vishu, the Kerala New Year, no matter how busy life gets, I make the journey back home to celebrate with my grandmother.

As she’s grown older, walking has become difficult, and one of the traditions she misses most is the vibrant temple procession she once attended every year. Rather than letting her experience it only through memories, I decided to bring the celebration back to her through my camera.

What began as a deeply personal story resonated far beyond my family, reaching over 1.5 million organic viewers on Instagram.

Reception

What surprised me wasn't the views but rather what people said. The comments, the messages, the strangers who wrote to me, telling me how it reminded them of their own grandmothers, their own homes, their own distance from the people they love.

The film won best film at the Indian Scroll Festival.
